Any new centers built in your area?
« on: January 02, 2009, 07:10:10 PM »
Just curious, I moved from Chicago to Northern California 20 years ago and all I've seen basically are bowling centers continually shutting down (and there weren't that many to begin with).  There were none in the city of Oakland when I got here (still none), San Francisco has one on an Army base (about to close) and a small fun center (rocknbowl type) downtown and that's it...all others are gone.

In the last 20 years I've seen at least 11 centers close and only 2 new ones that came up but on the outskirts of the Bay Area.  I realize California offers multiple forms of recreation unlike the midwest or eastcoast during winter but just wondering if there was an area of the nation where bowling was actually growing or thriving.

Thanks for your input...
