Food Prices
« on: January 04, 2005, 09:36:51 AM »
Have food prices in your center gone thru the roof.  Onion rings ar now $4.  A hot dog is $3.69.  Cheeseburgers are $4.79.  Our menu has shrunk and prices went out of site.

NO idea, don't eat anything from there.  Don't trust them.  I think they know i hate them, so they'd probably give me bad food/poison it.

Smash49, let me guess, its an AMF Center.  A new change in the food and beveage department took place on January 3, as well as the switching from Coke to Pepsi.  I noticed this happen at my AMF Center.

That's why I love bowling in small, privately owned centers. The food prices are usually much more reasonable, they aren't as movie theater oriented as the AMF centers tend to do with their food prices. I can usually get a burger, side order and drink for around $5-$6 in my neck of the woods.

Yep it's AMF and we have a 60-40 liquor law as it is.  They came out with these new fancy menus to put on the tables and people were sitting there with their mouths open.  Looks like the Wendy's in the parking lot will be doing more business.

Only good thing AMF has done food wise is switch from Coke to Pepsi.  I agree there prices are too high food is usually down right terrible.  I love local owned Mom and Pops alleys.  Great food great prices.  Burgers that are fresh pattied out by hand that cost less and taste better.  I love going to regionals at the non AMF houses food is awesome.  Oh yeah and did I mention breakfast my favorite meal of the day.  You can get bacon and eggs or sausage I don't even think most AMF centers are open for breakfast.

The local center has always, right from the opening bell, had pretty high food prices.  BUT, they have probably the best bowling alley food I've ever seen; shrimp, steak, not to mention great burgers.

2 main things on the menu.  They have a heading of burgers and more.  A hamburger and a chicken sandwich.  They have a few finger foods but there is more on the kids menu than anything else.  Oh yeah pizza $3.69 a slice.  They can't give it away during league.

The main house I bowl in has pretty good food - IF you get the right person behind the counter.

I bought a "chicken wrap" a few weeks ago. I found about 1/4" worth of one strip of chicken - and complained.
the guy behind the counter said that he knew he put the chicken in there - I must have just missed it.
Haven't bought a thing there since. Thanks for reminding me - we have a new manager - I need to let him know about that.

The same owner bought another house in a nearby town. The town is very small, and the bowling alley has ALWAYS been known for the good food. The lanes might be empty, but the restaurant has always been packed. Well, he raised the prices, and cut the portions in more than in half. guess what? No one comes in any more - and the owner can't figure it out.
Sigh.

At my locally owned center, I can get a 10 oz. burger with everything on it, big order of fries, and a drink for $5.85.  I go to an AMF center and the same thing would be upwards of $9.

The independent centers have the best tasting food, the largest portions, and the best prices.  I know of a spot with an old-fashioned counter with the stationary stools in front.  Ya' know.  The kind of stool where the seat is round and spins and spins.  The supports that hold them up are made to look like BOWLING PINS!
