Should i tuck my pinky?
« on: January 20, 2005, 11:33:28 AM »
I recently read the post by someone else about tucking the pinky in working for him, and most of the people with alot of forward roll seemed to agree it worked well for them.  I am also guilty of having a lot of forward roll, and i often think its costing me carry.  Should i try tucking my pinky halfway through the season? Or just stick it out and try it later?

Beware, however.  Tucking the pinky can cause damage to the tendons that spread aross the back of your hand.  If you feel any pain or strain at all, stop tucking the pinky.

I used to tuck my pinky until I had a hand strain problem during a PBA event.  I pretty much stopped tucking my pinky at that point and haven't gone back.

Very true. While I tuck my pinky, I don't advise it. This is what cause DblD's (Dave D'entremont)wrist problems and surgery a few years back.

I wouldn't do it for long. It is an option to get an extra punch on your ball, "when nothing else works". From my experience it works fine, but over time it is very uncomfortable (you squeeze your little finger with the ball!), and, like REV-o-LUTIONS stated, it will harm your tendons if you push it too much! Be careful. But it is a good B-game option to have in store.

I have tucked my pinky for 10 years. The secret to not hurting your self is to evenly distribute the weight. Spread out you pointer finger and take some of the ball weight with it. I have no ugly knot no tendon trouble, But with all things go slow and work into it. Can hurt your self going pee if you rush.
