I used to good! More than just lucky!

Well well well well well!  I actually could hit my mark a lot and make all sorts of adjustments at the time of release to change ball roll if I missed my mark.

Ah then I shortened my span to a proper length.  Since then it's been day to day!
Some good some not so good.  Also during the I used to be good I used a wrist brace and really liked it.  Once I shortened my span the one I used(Robbies seemed to want to pop the ball off my hand with its palm bump!

So I've tried various spans and wrist braces and some stuff was close and also good but nothing made the ball quite match that previous combo that really messed my thumb up every time I bowled.

So yesterday I get in a real nice practice session trying differnt drilling, different thumb holes, a bunch of balls, new lanes.  Then I started testing some old gloves and a new one.

Ohhhh!  All of a sudden I hit a combo and after a few balls I said it's time to turn on the score sheet a 300 is not out of the question.  Well a couple of 7 pins later and about 10 strikes I'm like well another game could be 300 but then honey called. Well I rushed out after throwing about 9 out of a hurried 11.

The combo.  A span I thought was just a touch short without a wrist brace but after I put on this wrist brace it tightened me right up and shortened hand just enough for span to be perfect!

The wrist brace was the blue Master glove that has just a piece of firm backing
in the back of the brace, no bump in hand and then has the an index and baby finger covered by glove with rubber on the contact surface to the ball.  The middle and ring are left bare.  Well I will tell you that I've tried this glove before and hated it!  The rubber on the index and ring seemed slippery on the ball to me in comparison to my naturally tacky fingers.

SO I CUT the index and pinky finger glove surface off leaving all fingers exposed!

Ahhhhhhhhh......... SO..............., YES!

I don't know when I've delievered the ball so cleanly, so level, so much controlled release and all in my favor.  Though the photos may never show it I felt like freakin Doug Kent on the left!  YES!!

Boy can bowling be fun when you control the release.

PS I also felt finally for the first time in a long time the sensation that Bill Taylor says one is to have of the pressure during the backswing being near the last joint of the fingers and then swithching completely to the flat pad at release.  This because the glove shortened my hand up ever so slightly to meke the span feel longer!  YES!

You seem to do a ton of experimenting.  Do you ever give each combo enough time to make sure it really works or is a failure?  Do you take a lot of notes while you are experimenting?  Do you ever give your hand/arm enough time to develop muscle memory?  I think HamPster did too much of this.  Maybe you just need to settle on something and Throw Ball Ugh?

I am not in a league.  When I'm in a league I settle.

I guess I'm trying to say I found the feel after a lot of experimenting!

I would not want to bowl me if I keep throwing with this amount of drive level thru the ball.

Don't know how I didn't get 300 last night and felt I could have thrown the same all 3!

It WILL happen.
