So we head to the pro shop Saturday hoping that they had a Total NV still available but nope SOLD OUT! So of course they try to sell us another ball! So they introduce us to a Columbia 300 rep who is there promoting the Big Shot, and he suggests the Action Attack to my fiance. After listening to him for about 5-7min about the AA, she is completely sold but I was still stuck on the Total NV. I told them that I rather see her with the Total NV and why, so now the pro shop owner comes over, whom I know pretty well, explains that if drilled right that the Action Attack can have great lenght and strong backend, which I agree with. So I tell her the "ITS YOUR MONEY!" which it was, so they offered her a great deal $159 including drilling and inserts out the door! So we picked it up today and here it is check out the picture and let me know what you think about the layout. Will this ball be what she is looking for a Long and strong reaction and keep from rolling out on less then oily lane conditions? Or should of we just waited and got the Total NV like origianlly planned? or you think it was good that we jumped on the great deal and got it anyway? She says its gonna be her last bowling ball! and I think that the Total NV would of been a better choice for being the "LAST BALL"

The layout is not a length-recovery layout but a smooth earlier roll layout. I'd take it back and tell him what you quote above and say we want our $ back or you give us what we wanted initially.

Definitely not a length layout, but what his her stats? Ball speed, rev rate, etc.

Not to sure what you meant with the first part of your reply? What do you mean?
and with her stats, which is gonna be quite difficult cause she hasn't been measured for anything yet so Im going by eye, so its gonna all be about...Ball Weight 13lbs...Ball speed 11.5-12mph...Stroker...Medium Revs...Very low track (she releases the ball wrong, I personally think that the ball is alittle to heavy but she does not want to go to a lower weight, almost twisting her wrist, trust me Im still trying to fix it...but thats all I got.

Yes, a company ball rep can tell you what the ball was designed to do. Yes, a pro shop tech can set you up with a layout that is designed to produce a certain type of reaction. Yes, a lane tech can tell you what type of ball reaction the lane conditions will generally produce.
After that, it is all up to the bowler.
What I'm trying to say is "your mileage may vary". If you decide to buy a new release, consider that you are volunteering your money to be one of the "test bunnies" for the bowling community. Balls don't always do what they're designed to do just like not all of the monkeys shot into space survived.
Potential solutions? Try it before you buy it. Check your area for a "demo days" event. Find someone who has the ball that interests you and who has a span close to yours and ask if you can try it. Have your pro shop tech watch you throw some balls or take video to him so that he can make a better informed recommendation.

if she understands about adjustment, speed, tilt instead of trying always hit the same mark, the total NV would be a great investment. However, if she doesnt have much knowledge about the game, the total NV would be just another ball that wont change her game too much.

I agree... but when I buy a new ball... I expect something new and a bigger succes in the game... so I can understand the point about the new ball not doing as expected.

I think what JohnP meant is that a 13lb TotalNV only has a pancake core.
I don't know for certain, wasn't able to find the spec from the Ebonite website.

hahaAs far as the other ball, I would go back to the Pro Shop guy, hmmm.. I live in Las Vegas too and the pro shop guy at nellis if that is where you went his name has slipped my mind. But I would talk to him and say hey listen you told me it would do this and it doesn't!! I am not happy at all!
