Frantic and the 10 Pin....Looking For Answers
« on: December 12, 2012, 01:10:06 AM »
Well I am at a new house this year and my Frantic and this house seem to not get along to well. I use one of the App's that keep your stats and when comparing the Frantic against my main ball (VG Nano Pearl) I leave way more 10 pins.

I am looking to understand way this is and how to correct it. The Frantic seems more snappy off the dry then my VGNP and I feel that my entre angle is too much. I am leaving 10 pins with different lines and it's killing me.

Would a surface change make sense on my Frantic, maybe a 4000 abralon pad? If so, why would this help carry. Would I need to move left with this surface changed?

What would I get out of the Frantic if polished up and what would be the suggestion if so?

Thanks

I believe it may be more accurate to say,
"A weak 10 pin is almost always about deflection."

A ringing 10 pin is more about breakpoint control.

10 pin is almost always about deflection.  Biggest cause of deflection on house shots is ball reacting extrememly strong off the dry, but burning up before it gets to the pocket.  Different surfaces can allow a person to either square up more which helps, or get even deeper which can also allow more energy retention if it isnt all used up turning the corner from an even wider angle.

Shinier, tamer surfaces allow you to square up more, particularly if you dont have a strong core, or the back ends arent booming.  Urethane reacts slower off the dry boards which allows you to tighten your feet up and play more direct from further out.  Some resin balls like the Versa Max, or IQ Tour will also allow you to square up more unless you are on a really wet dry condition
