I don't know I was looking more towords the shift because it is supposed to have a stronger backend reaction.

I'm a Storm/Roto guy at heart, even though I use stuff from all different manufacturers.

From the pictures I've seen of the Shift, it appears to be highly polished. Unless you've got revs out of your rear, I wouldn't recommend polished for medium-heavy to heavy as a general rule.

Judging from what you say your average is, if you are needing a ball for heavy volume, I'd go with the Pain. I've seen that ball in plenty of action from guys all over the rev spectrum and it is a arc-y, rolly ball with a ton of continuous action in the backends.

I wouldn't say 100 percent, though, until I see the Shift in use more than I already have.

I don't know? I'm so tempted to buy the shift buy looking at the video on the storm website, but I know the pain would be a better choice. I guess I'll have to wait to see more people use the shift to see how it does...

I have not seen the shift but the PAIN is one awesome ball!  It takes to cover changes great.  It's also a ball that should be in all tourney bowlers bags.  

The PAIN canbe used on a ton of different lane conditions.  If I could only bring one ball with me to a tourney the PAIN would be that ball.  Just give me the PAIN and some abralon pads and i'm good to go.

Great post reply.  

The PAIN comes with a 2000 grit abrlaon surface when it's in box condition.  What makes this nice is that it gives you many steps down in grits to give one more strength in oil.

I have only ran across one condition that the PAIN slid past the break point on.  It was a very heavy oiled long pattern.  I don't feel many bowling balls could work on that pattern.  So for most heavy oiled lanes the PAIN is very good.  I have brought the cover on one of my PAINS to 500 grit and it's a beast!
