Post by: mainzer on December 26, 2017, 04:38:06 PM
Has anyone here bowled with this injury? Bowled well? Thoughts?

One of my teammates tore his at the shoulder and was out for almost a year. Very long recovery time. After surgery to reattach he  had to wear an adjustable sling that allowed a little more movement each week.

Although I have never seen one torn at the elbow, it sounds kinda ugly.

Mine was torn at the shoulder (attaches two spots) so my surgeon re-attached it lower on the upper humerous by drilling through the bone and inserting the tendon.  This sounds bad, but the recovery was shorter and I've had no problems since.  Recovery time about 2 months.  The difference is that my right bicep is a tad lower than my left, but it's strong.

I have this, could not bowl with it, and had to have the surgery to correct. Shredded my distal tendon requiring a new (donor) tendon to be graphed in.

Rehab is difficult because of the delicate nature of the tendon. Plus, you lose everything you had to control the ball and you cannot supinate worth a darn. Long road ahead, but not impossible for whomever has this injury.

I snapped my biceps tendon at the shoulder. had the option of surgery or rehab Took rehab and after two months of intensive, targeted rehab I was back to bowling again.

The most noticeable issue was a serious drop in speed from 15-17mph down to a regular 14mph. On dry lanes it was 13mph!

Once I adjusted to this reality, everything else was gravy!
