developing a track on ball

is this bad for it? and how many games to put on before track? my friend has had his trama er, hasnt used it, but he gave it to me for free and i was wondering how he could have not a track.

how many games usually does it take to put a track on a ball, and is it bad for it?

Depending on the amount of oil laid down and the condition of the lane bed, you will develop a track in 3-30 games.  An old wood house with fried heads will mark a ball very quick.  Well maintained synthetics will take much longer.  I can't say I believe 500 games and no track, but...

A light track will get you a little more friction to help the ball read the pattern a little sooner and reduce over/under.  A heavy track is basically a flat spot that your balls rolls over.  Bad.

I used to bowl in a league at Sky Top Lanes (wood lanes) in Connecticut. I had a track on my ball after a few games. I've put about 100 games on a Reloaded on brand new synthetics in Virginia and there is no trace of a track.

I'm with rlamanna on this, I recently purchased an X-factor and had it drilled up. The owner of the proshop gave me a free game and the lanes were wood. The track was prevalent after just one game. My other balls on synthetics barely have a track on them at all, even when the lanes get dry.

500 games on a ball and it does not have a track. What are you bowling on ice?
I bowl on wood and synthetic. Synthetic will definitely lengthen the life of a ball. My aggresive balls are dead in 90 to 120 games. My shined up balls I can get 200 to three hundred games out of them until they begin to not react correctly!
