13 lb.. House ball Challenge! What a fun time.
« on: November 01, 2008, 05:30:08 AM »
Last night my roommate and I decided to go do some bowling.  The local lanes have a $10.50 all you can bowl from 9:30-Midnight.

After bowling a few games we decided to try something differently.  We both went to the rack and picked up 1 13 pound house ball to use for the remaining games.  Let me just tell you what a BLAST that was.  You talk about a premium on repeating shots and making spares!  I had to move further left than I have played since I was about 15.

If I missed by even half a board, I was toast.  I had to shoot straight at all my spares, and that was a lot of fun.  I even picked up a 5-10 split and a 3-6-7  We bowled 4 games with the house balls, and I went 3-1.  In the first game he threw 7 in a row to end the game with a 236.  I never had a game over 180, but all 3 games were very consistent.

If you ever get bored, or feel like bowling isn't challenging you enough, I suggest picking up a ball that doesn't fit all that well, and doesn't hook, and fishing around to find something on the lanes.

Most fun I've had in a LONG time!

Me and another high rev lefty that bowls on my team did this while practicing for a set during one of our practice session, we each picked up a 14 pound house balls and bowled, he has around 410 rpms and I have closer to 500, we were each playing them straight down 5 and sometimes had them over react was a pretty oily shot but we had to make sure to get it out to the dry with no swing just straight down, he had around 690 and I had 702, was a blast, we just fired it straight at the spares.

Shooting at spares was a blast.  I am hand challenged, so I was unable to bring the ball back.  I was standing at 8 and throwing about 5.  If I missed at all, wash out.  It's fun to hit the pocket and leave the flattest 7's in history lol.

Just a good time over all.
