Title: difference between total nv and black widow?
Post by: bucsfan713 on March 08, 2007, 02:48:20 AM
I am thinking about buying a total nv, but I would like to know what are the differences between the total nv and black widow.  Is the total nv a lower maintenance ball.  Do you think it would be a good idea to have both balls, or are they too similar to each other

First, i would say the TNV is a VERY high maintenance ball.  Mine picks up knicks & gets VERY nasty looking after just a few games, & it definately needs cleaned after every set.

As for the differences.  I would say if drilled the same, & both left OOB, the TNV will go much longer & be much more angular.  Most of the BWs ive seen are very smooth rolling & hit like a truck, the TNV is really angular, lots of length, lots of backend, hits like a truck carrying a truck.

So yes, if u want to try a TNV, go for it, its not going to do the same thing as a BW unless u have a BW drilled really strong & REALLY highly polished.

Shawn's basically right, but they're fairly close. I say that because I just got a reply from Ron Hickland and had some recommendations from Brian Graham for the Black Widow in there. Ron said if I wanted to Ebonite I should get the Total NV with the same drilling as the Widow. They're both great balls.
