Differences In Fingergrips
« on: August 05, 2003, 09:50:03 PM »
In looking at four different brands(types) of finger grips ahd how much angle/slope they have on the flat-angled side, what is the difference between:

10th Frame
Vise Grip
Turbo Power Lifts
Turbo Quads(I know these perform 4 different type grips, but I am talking about the flat angled side)

In what order do you rate them in terms of degree of angle from most to least?

Sorry, I don't use them.  You might change your preferences and do a search for the last 6 months.  I remember seeing a discussion on inserts.

In general, I believe that all of the inserts with the "flat angle" side have approx 1/4" forward pitch (towards the grip center) to them.  Since I no loger use anything except VISE ovals, I really don't remember what the insert pitches are.

Of the ones mentioned, I prefer 10th Frame.  The ViseGrips cut into my finger because the edge was just enough harder than the 10thFrame.  Haven't used any of the Turbo products.  I have some Contour grips that I have not yet had a chance to try but I know they were a little softer than the 10th Frame...

I don't look for "degree of angle" when I am making decisions on inserts, and my guess is many others don't either...hence the lack of response.  But as cgilyeat noted, I believe they are all pitched the same.

Agreed. All the ones I have seen have 1/4" forward on the lift grips. After that it is personal preference of softness, texture, and any gripping pattern on the tip.

Brick,

I thought we discussed this.

In order of most to least, can be identified by same size hole amount of material.  In other words 10th frame 11/16 fingerhole size has 1/4 front of lip material.  Turbo Quad 11/16 size is closer to 1/8 of front lip material.

In my opinion most lift or forward pitch to least.

10th frame
Vise
Turbo 2 and 1 originals (vise and turbo are tie)
Turbo quads least!

Contour???

I estimate pitch of 10th frame is at least 1/4 forward and Turbo quads closer to 1/8.

I use the Countour PowerGrips. I prefer the regular soft white. The lift is 1/8" on these and they are the softest of the grips avaialble. They also, due to the softness, wear out the fastest. The only thing that was ever made that I know of that was softer was a silicone grip back in the 70's.

Lucky,

Thanks for the info. You previously told me that you were in a rush and that you would get back to me on the grips, but you didn't so I thought I would try here to get some information. I use Turbo Quads abd they have very little angle. Almost none. When a person puts these type grips in their balls, they change the finger pitch to more pitch towards the palm. The information I was seeking was which brand increases the pitch the most towards the palm. From the information you posted here, it appears that the 10th frame will change the angle towards the palm more than the Vise Grips, Turbo Power Lifts, and definitely more than the Turbo Quads.

Can anyone here answer one more question of which brand is the softest?
