Absolutely!

Once you have established your style, speed and rev rate, then getting differently drilled balls will show you the various hook shapes, that can be generated.

It will help you to discover the "look" on the lanes that will make you successful in striking the most.

If you are looking at different layouts I would say yes.  Different looks or reactions are great to have for different conditions.
