I have been using my pinky and ring finger instead of my two middle fingers to keep the ball from hooking too much, wonder if anyone else has done this.
-
that sounds like it should be the opposite effect
should cause you to come around the ball more
try going back to the normal fingers in the ball and adjust the surface of the ball you are having trouble with, what surface is is at now?
if its 2000, try 4000, also can add some polish that may help
there are options

have tried different balls and numerous surfaces, this grip change does get around the side a little more but that just helps to get the ball down the lane, just don't know what the difference between this and a sarge easter grip would be.

If you are getting around it more and it gets down the lane better, then my guess is that you are helping it at the bottom of the swing. I would make sure you have the proper fit.
Go and see someone who knows what they are doing. Something doesn't sound right to me.
without seeing how you throw it, we can only guess

I tried it. The ball did seem to hook less. I wast throwing a ball with the pin in the ring finger and using the last two fingers moved the pin closer to my axis (assuming the axis was the same). Also, the ball went very straight when throwing at 10-pins. I still use that technique for 10-pins.

that's how I started doing this, throwing this way at ten pins, then one night I couldn't keep any ball on my side of the lane, so I tried this and I like the reaction better. I bowl on a house pattern that is about 38ft, so unless I see a longer pattern I think I will be throwing this way. I am drilling up a older pearl urethane ball soon.
