dirty balls - a another cleaner thread

one of the houses i frequent, returns balls from pit with thick black belt marks which are pain to remove. With my current cleaner, which is good, but not strong enough to really get it done. I have to really put some muscle into it. Only when I get home and use CnD or LMB, do I get it spotless.

we can see these marks on a LT-48 or any black ball. Really horrible when these thick marks are on your ball track.....

I have to inspect my ball as it returns and spend my time in the back table rubbing the crap out of my ball. I burn more calories cleaning my equipment than I do bowling.

The downside is that it is "not permitted for use at any time" by USBC.

That's because it IS Acetone; that is why it is banned.
Actually LMB Extreme cleans EVERYTHING off the ball better than acetone. I know because I compared them.

Jay, just bring a small spray bottle of LMB in your bag, just for problems like this.
FYI LMB Extreme was approved for use ANYTIME.

But LMB isn't in the approved list right? what USBC approved cleaner can I use. I might need to bring my hand held buffer to this alley next time.

when I first bowled in this alley 10 years ago for glow bowling, it was really bad. I just used my spare ball. It's still the same, but not as bad. New (used) lanes, updated Qubica monitors/scoring system, but the belts are still messy.....

If the marks Jay is referring to are the same as I used to get, the LMB Extreme product only takes them off with a lot of work. Tenth Frame UltraClean actually worked better than straight acetone on them.

If he can get to them right away, then the LMB cleaner works well, but once they have a chance to dry and get hard, you need something stronger.

I have also compared them side by side, so maybe we are talking about two different types of belt marks. The ones I have had to deal with are almost like shoe sole adhesive and after an hour or so become really hard and very tough to get off with "legal" bowling ball cleaner.

It is now. The original Lane Masters cleaner wasn't approved for during competition for a while.

It's also been  LONG time since I tried Ultra Clean. Once I learned it wasn't approved and was based on acetone, I think I disposed of it. I did compare LMB Extreme to straight acetone, not to Ultra Clean.

FYI I was quite surprised that LMB Extreme cleaned better than acetione.

I see those belt marks once in a while, not regularly. SO I never tested how good one was for fresh vs. dried belt marks. I am surprised you were unlucky enough to encounter this situation Sorry 'bout dat.

These belt marks are a pain. My rave I didn't clean right after play and the ball sat in my bag for a few days till I got to it. I was in a rush that day of practice - leaving out of town.

Anyway, I had to use my spinner to help remove the belt marks. I used the Remedy Rx then CnD. It was a task. Because of this experience, I make sure to clean as much as I can and remove the belt marks. (happens when I bowl on the low end of the house.) And since my Micro towel is soaked, I place it over the ball just so those belt marks don't harden, like what Milo stated too.

Side notes:

It's a pain to remove these belt marks, but I like this house. I plan on bowling here next season. It's better than that AMF/bowlmorons I bowl at now.... plus at this other house, it's .25 cents a game for practice. Also, if a team is added to a league, I was told the house gives additional prize money of up to $500.

Label it AND bring the USBC page where it says its permitted to clean balls DURING bowling. I've had OLD, OLD guys tell me cleaning balls wasn't permitted. I had to prove them wrong to the president of the league.

If I see belt marks on my ball, I clean it NOW. I can't bowl when my ball is going to grab when it hits the lane.
