I'm right there with you...I picked up bowling again after an 8 year hiatus and am bowling better than ever (I think a lot of it has to do with the mental game after a long hiatus...I keep the game simple now). I've done a lot of research and trial+error (trying out 15+ bowling balls and different layouts) with various brands/equipment and this is what my current 4 ball arsenal looks like:

Storm Marvel
Storm HyRoad
Storm Lights Out
Storm Natural Pearl

I was a Brunswick Zone and Zone Pro fanatic in the early 2000's, but I gave Storm a try now and I absolutely love it. The HyRoad and the Lights Out are my bread and butter...the Marvel can be substituted for any of the higher ends balls (and I keep it with a relatively dull coverstock for the fresh oil). Natural Pearl is my super dry lane ball and also my spare ball...so that can be substituted with a plastic if you choose to do so for your spares. There are so many options nowadays and mid-price bowling balls are phenomenal (and many times preferred by pros over the high-end equipment for a variety of lane conditions). Best of luck on building your new arsenal, and this website is an incredible resource.

The Storms wouldn't be too bad, the Marvel cover is touchy and needs a lot of upkeep, and the Hyroad and Lights Out might overlap some, but that should all keep you in play on almost anything.

I'd probably agree with CoachHines to a certain extent, sometimes it's good to mix and match companies as some have different reaction characteristics from others, but Storm probably has the most complete lineup of any company out there as far as reaction shape goes.  Might consider Motiv too, they've got some of the best balls on the market out right now.
What would you be if you were attached to another object by an inclined plane, wrapped helically around an axis?

The Mastermind is a better heavy oil ball than the Marvel Pearl. Can't go wrong with Mastermind on top.

Marvel Pearl takes well to cover adjustment and may be a better choice than the Hyroad. It was for me. I also like the Droid, IQ Tour or old reliable Virtual Gravity as a benchmark ball for fresh shots.

Lights Out or a Ripsaw work well below. Lights out is more angular on the back. Ripsaw is a great control piece for medium light to light.
