Should I switch to bowl with my left hand?
« on: February 13, 2005, 09:35:58 AM »

I'm a lefty that bowled with my right hand because when I was younger my uncle teach me to bowl with my right hand and I have been bowling with my right hand since. I have been bowling for almost 4 year now and average around 180 for the last three season and can't really improve my average. my question is

Should I switch now and start bowling left??
do you think is a good idea??

Instead of switching and starting all over, why don't you invest in some coaching for help...i'm sure you will see progress a little sooner this way as opposed to switching hands and basically starting over.

One for Question.
The big reason why I'm thinking about to switch arm is people keep telling me that you will get a lot more adventage on a long run if you're bowling left.

do you guys agress with that???

Well, everyone says that leftys have an advantage because there are fewer of them, and their shot tends to break down a lot less quickly than that of the rightys who are always fighting each other for oil. I really think your better off staying as a righty and just developing your game. I'm left handed and bowl right, so i'm just like you in that respect. I'd NEVER consider switching...I know it would take me forever to get myself to where i am now.

If you are a natural left hander, I would attempt to switch. I am not left handed but have toyed with learning to bowl with my opposite hand. I could not urge you strong enough that if you bat, golf, write ....etc with your left hand, you should consider bowling left handed. The things you have learned over the years right handed will come into play on the left side.

The main reason I say this is because of how the brain works. It seems you are loosing alot of advantages.

Dear pin-chaser,
I only bowl and write with my right hand. I throw football and shoot basket ball with my left. I'm kinda weird. I might just try it over the summer.

well, thanks for all the reply!!!

I'd give switching to your natural side a shot.
You'll find out pretty quickly if you can do it.
A good coach would be a plus.

Bowling on the left is easier if a good shot is put down!

It stays.

Bowling on the right is easier if a bad shot is put down... it changes!
