Dry Lane Ball - Tropical Breeze Kona Blue/Silver or Slingshot?
« on: September 01, 2012, 03:05:32 PM »
I was wondering if anyone has experience with both of these balls and could compare them on drier/breakdown conditions. If you prefer one over the other I'd like to hear why. I have seen the BTM review of the Slingshot but missed the Breeze review assuming there was one....

Thanks in advance!

The answer, as always, is it depends.

The Slingshot is more even reacting with less backend; it has barely more backend than most urethanes available today. In fact, some have more backend than the Slingshot. The Breeze has slightly more length and more backend.

If you're facing ferocious backends and you don't have firmer ball speed, I'd suggest the Slingshot. If you have more matched rev rate and ball speed and/or the backends are not bone dry, then the Breeze might be the better ball.

FYI the Motiv Silver Recon pearl, the RX-1, fits right in with the Slingshot and the Breeze, with an almost urethane-like ball reaction.

BUT both are among the resin balls that need the most dry to hook, before you get into plastic/polyester territory. So unless they're really dry or you have really slow ball speed, you might be better off considering slightly stronger resin balls.

Thanks for the reply Charlest. Looks like the Breeze sounds more suitable for my particular situation so your very thorough explanation is extremely helpful and appreciated!
