bowling exercise
« on: October 23, 2004, 11:16:31 AM »
Hello all. I've made an exercise device that many of you may have seen before to work out my wrist. I have in the past used one of these things at a high school gym, but i no longer go to the highschool. Theres was $30.00, mine came out to $2.67, already had the weight sitting around for it. Take a look at it.

What you do is hold the device over a ledge or something, extend your arms downward if you are wanting to work only your wrists, and twist the weight up  and the string around the pvc piping. I believe this thing was first invented by ben hogan for golf, and i just love the way it works your wrist. i thought some of my fellow bowlers might be interested in a great exercise that i hope will increase my longevity on the lanes!

In addition, i think there was a thread started a while ago and somewhere it had a link to a device that is manufactured that is like this, just made with some kind of fancy looking material. You might be able to search and find this link so that you can see what this thing is supposed to do.

that works out the top if ur forarms. the musle on top and in front of ur elbow.

I made a device like this for hockey as well jsut to use it.

I made mine out of a old hockey stick that was laying around, drill a hole in the middle and put a 5 pound weight at the bottom.

bring it up and down......most other guys i see just let it go ont he way down.

Actually it works the bottom of the forearms too. If your twisting it under, you can really feel it under your forearms.

The same thing can be accomplished by cupping/uncupping a bowling ball.

Yes, but a bowling ball is awkward to work with and doesnt quite work the muscles to the full extent this is, i dont know why, but believe me this feels like it works the muscles under the forearm more extensively.
