totalled 'gutter' ball
« on: February 21, 2004, 02:00:33 AM »
Just when I thought I had seen it all: The other night, I had been using my V2 Clean most of the night, third game 3rd frame I switch to the PrimeTime.(Freshly drilled one at that.)  Not even a game on the ball yet. 8th frame, errant shot wide right, just as the ball is dropping over the edge, suddenly pops up with a sickening CRACK and I see several pieces fly off the ball and land on the lane. Damage too severe to fix. Nothing like losing a brand new ball in such a manner Thankfully the house is giving me a replacement. My theory is that the ball caught a nail or burr on the edge of the gutter. I'm just wondering if anyone has had anything similar happen to them?

ya i had that happen 10 years ago with a gyro. the lanes didnt give me a new one but they just used plug because it was just like an extremely deep crack all along my track. sorry to hear about your ball but glad the house was nice about it.

I saw a guy 1 time roll his ball and
about half way down the ball just
started throwing pieces of the ball
everywhere. Come to find out he had
baked it the nite b4 and it had cracked
around one of the finger holes and
on the bridge. Must be the cracks were
pretty good sized ones. But what a sight
to see. Let that be a lesson for everyone,
NEVER BAKE A BOWLING BALL

I had---repeat HAD an Ebonite Yin Yang spare ball. About a month ago I was throwing for a solid 7-10 (needless to say this ball had a little extra steam behind it), I was shooting for the 10 pin and the ball went into the gutter. It flew straight up, hit the machine and landed over near the 4 pin!!!! A piece of my ball was left on the lane near the pocket area, and when it came back it looked like there was a section about 4inches circular would just crack off of the ball. SO I had to toss it.

I went down and looked for something in the gutter, there was nothing there or anywhere near by. My guess is that it hit just right on the edge of the gutter where it turns into wood and the impact against the machine caused the damage.

OH well......um.....POOP happens?
