on the type of oil pattern that is applied to the lanes during your leagues?  i was just thinking that it would be nice if the proprietors would communicate the oil pattern, type of oil, etc. that is used on the lanes.  the pro bowlers know what they're bowling on . . .

i don't think the centers i bowl in (greater nashville, tn area) communicate very well with their league bowlers.  it seems that at best, you have to get to know the maintenance crew to find out anything about the lane conditions.

how have you been able to overcome this problem?

Everytime I try to find out info, like the type of oil, no one knows.  Must be some kind of state secret.    

For the sport league, they do graph two lanes every night prior to the start of the league and I usually take a look at the graphs. It's not that I can get a good idea from looking at them, but I figure if I look at them, then bowl, maybe I can correlate that somehow the next time.

How do you graph the lane when the lane guy goes out there with a spray bottle and a mop?

ragnar, i bet that made tournaments where you moved across several pairs of lanes VERY INTERESTING!!  i remember the day, but i wasn't competing . . . just rolling house balls and chasing skirts!
