need a heavy oil ball
« on: March 02, 2005, 03:29:46 PM »
I need some help. A friend of mine tells me that this certain tournament always puts down a super heavy oil shot.He says everybody's balls back up from the oil being so long and heavy.I am bowling in it in 2 weeks.I throw about 17mph and spin it alittle. He tells me that even his wmb sanded doesn't hook through this.He has a similar shot as me and he says he points the ball to the pocket slowly and still can't get it to move.I use Morich balls, but ,in your opinions are there any super heavy oil balls that can handle speed but can still rip through the oil?Yes I can slow the ball down and stay behind the ball if needed but,I'd really don't want to change everything for this shot.I know I will have to point it from the gutter.I was just wondering if there is a ball that matches this.I bowl in three houses now and the shot varies from med heavy oil to bone dry.Is there anything else I can do on the lane to combat this condition? If it is as bad as my friend says I want to be ready for it.Thanks for the help!!

Some very good oil balls are Brunswick's (recently "deceased") Fuze Eliminator and the new Impulse Zone. Both are light load particles, the Impulse Zone being the overall more aggressive and modern ball.

If you can give them revs, they both will be very good oil choices which offer lots of grip, yet are able to get down the lane even when the heads run dry and the lane is spotty. Not good for bone dry backends, except for the case that you get them down with speed, but nevertheless offering control and stable reactions.

I would go with a Rule GP2 or an Animal if you can find one. Scuff the surface a bit and drill them to roll early, then you have a great heavy oiler!
