Just wanted to see if anyone has any insight into my situation.
I've been going to a coach for the last 5 or 6 weeks and it seems to be helping me when I practice. On league nights I really am picking up all my bad habits. If I stand on the approach and go through the motions without the ball, I can be very fluid and do exactly what I want to do. As soon as I put a ball in my hands, I revert back to bad form. I'll focus so hard on not drifting, and keeping my arm straight and sometimes I won't follow through all the way and have disatrous results.
I finally got to thinking that maybe I should switch to a lighter ball until my footwork, armswing and release are where I want them to be. Right now my first ball is all over and I still have very little control. I usually use a 16 pound Track Phenom and Ebonite Stinger. I also have a 14 pound Track Hex that I haven't used for more then a year. Does it make logical sense that switching to a lighter ball can help my muscle memory erase all the bad things I was doing?
My logic was that hitting the pocket with a lighter ball is MUCH better then missing the pocket with a heavier ball. Anyone have any comments for me?
