Finger Inserts or Non Inserts

How do a bowler decide if they should use inserts?

I have done both for a whole season. I still using them at the present.
My average is still the same (down by one pin). Both feel good to me, also I get the same type of ball reaction with or with out.
The only think that I don't like is that the inserts get worn down and I had an insert come out in the 9th frame after having the first 8(Of course that mess me up for the whole night. That same night my ball got stuck, when the mechanic free my ball it had several gashes in my track after having the first 7. To top it off I didn't even shoot an 800 series)

Just want to know what you think.

I tried grips 30 years ago and hated them.  I thought maybe there might have been improvements,so I tried them again last year and hated them again. I get a better,more consistant feel and none of the problems(wear,coming out,tearing up fingers,etc)WITHOUT inserts.It does take some time to learn how to start with a very small hole and carve/sand/bevel the holes until they fit like you stuck your fingers in a ball of clay,but it is worth it.

It's a matter of comfort. If the insert comes out, fire the ball guy who glued it. But like every piece of equipment, it needs to be taken care of. New inserts are not expensive unless the pro shop is ripping you off. If you need them more than once every 5-6 months, I suspect something is wrong somewhere else.

Also they are VERY easy to replace yourself, with a small screwdriver and some Super Glue, if needs be.  You can buy them online for anywhere from $1 - $3 each.

Oh, if yours fell out, didn't someone, anyone in your league or the center's pro shop have some Super Glue to glue it back in?? Someone always carries it where I bowl. Ask the guy who carries 6 balls to a league; he usually has everything.

Its all comfort. My dad told me that you can try both grips and non-grips and you tell me which feels better to you. So I did and I have found out that my personal opinion is that grips are more comfortable. Grips do wear down everyone knows that but the one thing that is true that when you do have grips in your ball you get the softter texture then you do with out the grips. Just go what is comfortable to you. That is my suggestion
