Oh that's good for business! One of the reasons we moved our businesses was violence at the bowling center. In one night we had 2 girls go at it about 9:30 and later that night there was a gang fight with about 10 guys going to jail. The next week 5 guys chased a guy into the center and beat the hell out of him right at the front counter. They ran over a lady in the process. The AMF's center managers request for security were denied from what we had heard. Violence at bowling centers is not unusual in fact a couple of centers in the Dallas area have police stations in the parking lots. Grove Country/Buckner and Don Carter West. The only thing happening at the Irving center is that the police will be called when ever there is an occurance or disturbance. That policy would be too late. My 71 year old mother many times would close down the pro shop at night carrying a fair amount of cash with the high possibility of not making it to the car.

I used to live in that area, and I bowled at the center a time or two. It has been about 3-4 years since I left, but that center was in a pretty good area when I was there. If this had happened at the time I lived there, it would not have been the norm for that area. They used to bring in Bill Hall for lessons in this center and it never seemed like a place where you would have to worry about being safe......but things can change a lot in 3 years.

It's still not the norm for Pinole. However, similar incidents occurred at two other centers in the East Bay, and at the time this story broke, the police seemed to think the incidents were related.
