Does anyone on here bowl?
« on: October 23, 2020, 07:33:57 AM »
I hear lot of talk on here about bowling but no one ever posts a weekly  high score or high series on what lane condition with what ball.
Not that anyone cares but but I've been having very good results so far this year with a motiv alpha jackal on a house shot. Last night shot 203 226 223 for 652 series.
I've used this ball exclusively this year so far and my average after 18 games is 208.6 which is up from last year's 188.9

It’s definitely different this year, every other lane, social distancing and the morons who don’t follow common sense rules. Too many high fives, lack of mask wearing, and bad overall bowling alley hygiene. With that said averaging 212 predominantly with a Sonic IQ at 3k grit finish in an old house. Looking forward to bowling in other houses once this clears up a bit.

I do.

On my Monday night league I'm averaging 213 through 6 weeks on Kegel Chromium.  It's a challenge pattern and I've found my most success throwing the Honey Badger Extreme Solid and if they break down enough (which is rare) the HB Revival.

On my Friday night league, a THS on ancient wood, they do play different pair to pair.  I'm averaging 231 through 6 weeks.  I've been pretty much throwing only my Electrify Pearl and my 900 Global Boost.

I'm not really a FIGJAM guy so I don't post what I shoot b/c I can't imagine why anyone would care....

Bowling again here.  League switched from a sport shot league to using Kegel Challenge patterns.  Bowl two weeks on a pattern then switch.  So far I have bowled on Big Ben (44'), Tungsten (39'), Beaten Path V2 (41'), Broadway V2 (37'), and Stonehenge (40').  Shot 1 very nice series and 2 horrible ones.  Using a little bit of everything since the patterns play so different.  Lane #1 Tsunami, Motiv Venom Shock, Storm Phase II, Brunswick Strike King...

Bowling a sport league; not sure the exact pattern right now.  43 ft long; over 30 units of oil.

using my Axiom with good results so far.  tried my Nuclear Cell when axiom started too early.  the Nuclear was the wrong choice.  next week, if I need a ball other than the axiom, it will be my IQ tour nano pearl that I try first

while mostly happy with scores; no honor scores or anything worth bragging about except one game of 245.  but that was the last pattern, Chichen Itza.  my PhysiX was the ball for me on that pattern

At least your center is doing every other lane and social distancing.  Our center is full-on for leagues, two teams per pair, no empty lanes in between, no social distancing.  We also have the people doing the high fives, hugging, sharing food, 95% of people not wearing masks, etc.  There have been a growing number of people voicing concerns about the situation to the center, but they ultimately don't really care.  It is what it is.  I go in, bowl, and mind my own business.

With that being said, bowling only one league per week.  No practice, no tournaments.  I am choosing to limit my time at centers until things improve (our state is currently spiking and daily cases are almost back up to the peak back in April.)  Averaging 218 with a mix of DV8 and Brunswick stuff depending on the shot.  Usually some sort of house shot on AMF synthetic lane surface, but the length and volume of the shot varies from week to week.

Pretty much believe we all bowl, who are members here, thank you very much. Thankfully most haven't gone and done like other online bowling forums, where members post a readout from their scores or belly up to the bar with posting their scores, series for everyone to ohhh and ahhh about. If you need that kind of participation from others, I can relate to you other forums which do so.

I probably won't bowl this year due to school, so in that aspect Covid-19 hasn't been an issue for me.

I hope to get time to practice before Las Vegas next summer for the USBC Open Championships.

One thing that has been good about the Covid situation(for me), it a reasonable excuse to not do all the #(*%$!@# high-fiving, dapping, fist-bumping, hand slapping, etc.

No matter what happens with bowling, I'm done with that bullshit.

Open bowling only, and it's a horror show since I'm trying to stop grabbing and twisting the ball, just roll it.

Too much variance from house to house and bowler to bowler to really be able to compare scores, but yes, I bowl.

Been using a plethora of equipment, but to no avail. I am holding at 201 avg right now, but very "hit & miss". 650 one week, 550 the next.

Balls I have tried in the five weeks we've bowled:
1. 900Global Shadow Ops
2. Pyramid Pathogen Plague pearl
3. DV8 Tactics Control
4. IQ Emerald
5. Track Amethyst Kinetic
6. Roto Grip Hyper Cell Fused
7. Brunswick Black Quantum
8. Roto Grip Hustle AU
9. Brunswick Rhino (Newer, reactive model)
10. Track Red Paradox (Needs surface adjustment. Too early)
11. Storm Electrify pearl

The lanes have been very inconsistent so far. One week, my Pyramid ball hooks and hits, the next week, it won't even turn the corner and I leave 7's and 5-7's unless I switch to a more aggressive cover, like reactive, but then you have to be psychic to predict what surface you're going to need on it.

One week, my IQ Emerald was great. The next, it was hooking in the heads. Week after that, it wouldn't even wrinkle.

Now, I know I've gotten older, and much less consistent myself, but I'm not so far gone that it should make THIS much difference from week to week.

Hopefully, they settle on a pattern soon, lock it in, and then leave it alone.

I have been saying the same thing about my center for the past 25 years  ;D
