Would you be pissed if you bought a ball on ebay and this is how it showed up:

I have bought and sold a bunch of bowling balls via eBay and BallReviews.  This is just crap.

Looks like it was retaped by the shipper.  Unless it was damaged, it would not bother me that much.

Whether it's FEDEX or UPS, the condition a ball arrives in has much to do with how the local office treats packages. My UPS is pretty good, and FEDEX has gotten a lot better.

Previously some FEDEX  bowling ball boxes looked a lot like yours: as if someone tried to bowl with the box in a parking lot. The box got beaten up very badly and the appearance went from a cube to a being rounded at all 8 corners. Thankfully, most people double box and the the two boxes protected all balls from external damage.

Just because you insure the package (or get $100 free insurance) does not mean they pay for the damages an internal item receives. I learned that the hard way when a CD player was grossly mistreated and dented. The buyer refused to accept the package. UPS, AFTERWARDS told me that their web site specifically says that electronic items MUST have a 3" buffer of packing material like foam in all 3 dimensions between the item and the cardboard outer box. I only had 2".Luckily the dent was minor and did not affect the internals, but I eventually got a lot less for the CD players.

Looks like the prop from the beginning of the movie, "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective".

Well, I have sold over 100 balls via eBay and BallReviews.  I always double box.  I guess I expect the same respect without having to ask for it.  And that is why I posed the question.  Apparently my expectations are too high.

I emailed the seller and his only response was ... is the ball  damaged?   Honestly I haven't opened it, because I wanted to take  pictures first.

I have never given a negative on eBay, and that  is with 3200+ transactions, but this was just cheap.  I even used the  buy it now, so it is not like I got the ball for a steal and the guy had  to swallow some of the cost.

And on a tangent:  some manufacturers like Brunswick and 900 global seem to use cheaper boxes (just my observation).  But at least they double box.  If you ever buy anything directly from Legends (in the past) and Motiv (currently), you can see they pay attention to detail, as their shipping boxes are about as solid as you can ask for.  Even the simple things like the plastic bag inside varies.  It always appears to me like 900 global uses some old wrinkled, oily plastic bags that came out of the trash.  I have owned several of their bowling balls and have had success with their stuff, so I am not knocking the company.  It just seems to me like they skimp on shipping/handling.  I just expect more for my dollar I guess.
