Possibly... but you get what you pay for.

RPM's aren't what make a good spinner, you really want torque to get a heavy ball moving and to counteract the friction produced by sanding and polishing.

Has anyone tried it yet is the question...you would think it would work based on the variable speed of the sander/polisher, but won't know until it is tested

I saw a post on that before and its good in theory but the motor didn't hold up for the guy that originally did it, under stress of sanding and polishing and that it just was working to hard and was bogging down and eventually burnt up.

My uncle had a electric motor sitting in his shop, so I asked him about helping me build a ball spinner. We got the motor in a fixed position with two pulleys and a rubber belt. All that I need to do now is find another big pulley 9 inchs in diameter with a bearing in the center to fit a 5/8 inch bolt or something close to it, as the other big pulley does not have a bearing in the center. We ran the motor with the two pulleys and the speed looked perfect, time to do some shopping/ looking

I think the donkee spinner has been a good value. Have it 5 years  and it still works. Had to replace switch and splash guard added foot switch(works well).

I use the Vertex 1/2 HP spinner in my shop and have to say it's a far superios spinner to the Jayhawk model which it replaced.

I bought a footswitch to make it easier to use and have been very happy ever since.
