Before anyone gives any suggestions, I just want to throw in the usual reminder about this common question:  you're not looking for hook in heavy oil, per se.  More than anything, you are looking for the ball to get into a roll so it can carry.

And we also could use some more info about how you roll a ball.  Do you know your ball speed?  Rev rate?  PAP?  What type of lanes are you on -- wood or Guardian or AMF synthetics, etc.?

I agree with Dan, but if I am going to make suggestions, my first is The Rising by Track.  It comes out October 17th.  Look into it.

The BVP MAMMOTH would be great. But a little more info would help more in helping us help you...

I don't care how good specs are or what a little birdie told you; how can you recommend a ball that hasn't even been released yet?

The Mammoth is good, but the factory finish is just too coarse. I changed mine to 2000 abralon and it unleashed the beast. DANG! Brunswick should have made it factory 2000 abralon OOB.

The OOB finish just fits a gap in Brunswick's arsenal. With OOB at a fine grit, the Mammoth would overlap with many other balls - not necessarily reaction-wise, but condition-wise. It is big B's abolute arcing heavy oiler at the moment.

If a player is smart, he/she recognizes the ball'spotential for the personal needs and adjusts the surface - even before the ball is even played at all, or after first shots to fit the ball to the player's style.
Sure, many balls come OOB to fit a wide variety of styles, and the OOB Mammoth is at the condition spectrum's extreme.

With this in mind, a VERY wide range of balls can be suitable for oil, with the right surface and drilling. Even a solid Power Groove can be handy on oil with the right prep and if it fits a certain need of the player.
