Title: Does this layout have a common name?
Post by: SG17 on October 01, 2015, 09:52:05 PM: I have a red/blue freeze with a uncommon layout.

I am a RH bowler, I might try to get a picture posted later of the ball, but I will take a stab at a description

Pin is above the Middle finger. the CG is kicked out 45 degrees, left of grip. a balance hole is opposite hemisphere of the ball from the grip, closer to fingers than center of grip.

the ball has 2 distinct set of flare marks, one in the traditional location for a RH bowler, then the ball makes a hard move and rolls on a different axis and has another 2 - 3 inches of flare. the 2 flare lines are somewhere between 45 degrees to 90 degrees to each other. the balance hole is at the inflection point between flare marks so that the ball doesn't roll over it.

circumstances have me working with a different pro-shop now than the one that drilled the freeze and I think I would like another ball with that layout. but I cant find a common name for it or instructions on how to properly layout that pattern in respect to bowler specs.

for example, I recall a lot of effort needed to place the balance hole such that static weights were in compliance and the ball didn't roll over the balance hole.

Do any of you guys have any idea what I am describing? can you provide an actual layout name?

It gives the ball quite a bit of lope like a true high rg layout should. The key is the weight hole being about 4" deep so it takes out a lot of the side of the core.

I agree with Big Mike! It sounds like a *135 lay out to me. I had this layout in an old Whip Lash one time. Gave me good length, and a very smooth recovery downlane for dry lanes, with strong backends.
