Dont Buy Over Summer??
« on: May 26, 2006, 01:42:50 AM »
I have been talking to a good friend/driller about buying some new equipment. he told me to wait and hold on until the fall season because these companies seem to release thier new stuff in this time. my question is... is this true? and will it be worth the wait?

It has become commonplace for many, if not all manufacturers, to have new stuff waiting for Bowl Expo/start of the new year. The operator probably just wants you to wait to give you a better look at what is available...unless there is something you want specifically, there may be a better deal on it or something else may catch your eye in a few months!

Considering that the "latest and greatest" is not necessary for the house shots, I'd opine that it all comes back down to getting the best deal money-wise.

Good answers folks, and I agree.
While there will undoubtedly be someting new on the table in the fall, you will not be "missing out" on anything big if you find something that suits your fance over the summer. There is so much good equipment out there now. The best thing you can do is concentrate on improving your game over the summer. Do some research (ask questions) on equipment and get a ball whenever you feel you are ready.

It is best to buy bowling balls all the time . Seriously though, summer is probably one of the better times to get a ball, for new equipment comes out mid-late summer for the new season which means the "older" stuff needs to move out to make room. Pro shops are more willing to give a discounted price on equipment so that:

1)Inventory is reduced to next to nothing in house
2)Clear out all "discontinued" balls
3)More $$ made during the slowest time of the year

Example:
Buy a BVP Nemesis now for a discounted price or wait until the BVP Wizard comes out (Nemesis replacement possibly) and pay full price.
