My trip to the T.O.C
« on: December 14, 2003, 06:19:36 PM »
Well, I was there yesterday and it was quite fun. I got there early to get in when the doors opened (11:30) and got very good seats. I was about 20ft from the staging area for the lanes. Good view of everything going on. Got a bunch of FREE stuff from the sponsor tables, especially the Dexter booth, got 2 free T-shirts and a bunch of little things. I met Walter Ray Williams Jr. and Chris Barnes, got their autographs and chatted with WRW for a few. That was pretty fun!! Now on to the event.

Those guys showed the crowd alot of laughs and fun during their practice/warmup sessions. Pederson, Himmler and Healy were throwing candy into the crowd and getting us pumped up. Barnes threw out some shirts and Walter Ray was throwing out Dexter T-shirts (one of which hit me right in the face).

The thing I noticed and found very odd. Barnes was throwing a Swamp Monster in practice and had an excellent reaction with it. I think he struck with every shot during practice with the Swamp Monster. Then the telecast comes and he uses something totally different and couldnt find a line to play. True the lanes broke down quickly but had he used the Swamp Monster he probably would have made it to the final against Pederson. Why didnt he use the ball that gave him the best reaction in practice??

In any case, all in all. The show was good, I was really pulling for Pederson. As much as he may be "annoying" when he commentates on tv, this guy is fun to watch. He was constantly making the crowd laugh and getting us all involved with what was going on. Good showing though, cant wait til they come back to my area. I will be there again!!

Wow, so that's what happened to the oil!  Barney's Swamp Monster sucked it all up!

Seriously though, by the second game, there was no way anyone could keep a Swamp Monster on the right side of the head pin.  Pedersen had a great look with the Fear Factor in the first game, but he has much less hand than Barnes, and the oil was drying up quickly.

In the second game, Barney would have been better off with a Blazing Inferno than the Inferno, and a Swamp Monster would have been completely unusable.
