I actully saw someone in a sanctioned league that was so bad she managned to foul twice. IF that wasen't bad enough she threw it in the gutter on both sides. I didn't know if I wanted to laugh or puke.

Why the hell is that person even allowed to bowl in league with you? It was like this one time, Tommy Jones threw a 110 against Chris Loschetter. I couldn't stand it, it was embarrassing. I had to put him out of his misery, so I punched him in the face.

Brian, those are the people I offer free lessons to, great PR for our sport. Sure they may be bad, but they joined a league and come out week after week. If we help them do better, they'll enjoy it more, and stick around, and maybe bring friends. It's one of the things we should happily take on for the love of our game.

Many are willing to learn, they just need somebody to tell them they can do it, and point them in the right direction.

I think there should be requirements to join a sanctioned league. This is totally unreasonable right now because supposedly membership is down. Really though, my requirements wouldn't have to be that hard:

Women, men and juniors should have to meet an average requirement to enter. Once entered, they can reapply for membership even if their average drops.

League meetings should have mandatory rules that must be read out loud by the president, secretary, league rep or bowling alley representative. This would explain all rules like: PROPER lane courtesy, don't step over the foul line, proper bowling etiquette, etc.

If USBC bowlers cannot enter with a minimum average of at least 130 and cannot follow rules like get your REAR off the approach FULLY after you throw a ball and stop stepping over the foul line and stop throwing it in the gutter every other frame then maybe these bowlers should join a NON SANCTIONED league. Stop flooding our leagues with incompetent, clueless bowlers.

I'm not trying to be mean and I do help out bowlers in my leagues whenever possible yet I really burned out on these bowlers that have either no clue or not respect either unintentionally or intentionally. I'm also tired of the drunken bowlers like this, even worse. I want USBC to be

Bring it up at your next league meeting. Say "some bowlers just aren't good enough to bowl with me; they need to meet certain requirements to bowl in this league." I would hope they adopt requirements that don't allow you to bowl.

Why don't y'all do that? We do. We go over the rules from last year, voting on each rule to either keep it as is or change it. Some have to be changed, like when the league starts and stops, what weeks we take off. Most are kept, like what we use to compute averages, what kind of point system we use. Among those rules that we vote on is etiquette, lane courtesy, and such. Typically we take about two hours to vote in the same rules we had last year.

Explaining lane courtesy, foul lines, and etiquette should be extremely easy. Most league bowlers bowled last year, there aren't that many new people. Tell them to show up 20 minutes beforehand the first night, it's mandatory for new bowlers. That shouldn't put anyone out.

All of your complaints can be easily and politely addressed without kicking out bowlers. As soon as you make the USBC a "members only" organization, you destroy it.

All it takes for them to not throw it in the gutter is to tell them not to do it? You mean, they don't know they're not supposed to throw it in the gutter? Astounding. Why don't you just throw more strikes? Is that all it takes to get more strikes? Don't you know you're supposed to strike on the first ball?

Yeah, incompetent, clueless bowlers are much worse than snobby, self-important bowlers. The former can be taught, the latter typically cannot. Not every house offers unsanctioned leagues (the only one we have is for the college students, and they generally behave pretty well), and non-sanctioned leagues don't offer the awards that lower average bowlers would get in a sanctioned league (80, 100,...200 game awards, 300, 400, 500, and 600 series, clean games). You may not give a crap about those awards, but when I was a new bowler, getting that first 180 game, that first 200 game, that first 500 and 550 series meant quite a lot to me.

Unlikely. You have little but contempt for new bowlers. On the bright side, if you bring that attitude with you to league (why aren't you bowling in a scratch league anyway? Or the PBA? Those leagues are more for you, they're full of people who actually know how to bowl), then your problem of clueless, incompetent, inconsiderate bowlers will most likely solve itself. I know I wouldn't want to bowl with you.

People are so ignorant so what if shes a bad bowler. Does her bad bowling affect your game? Could it be she just enjoys to bowl. Maybe you or someone else in the league could give her some help. Bowling is losing bowlers ever day . We need to be supportive of others in our sport. If this really bothers you join a scratch league.
