Drilled for length

What does drilled for length or drilled to go long mean exactly?
Also what would this layout look like?

Typically that means the pin is above the finger line and farther from the PAP (more than about 4").  The higher pin allows the ball to go further down the lane before breaking.  Long typically means more backend (it moves the hook from the midlane to the backend) but not necessarily.  Long with mild backend may be useful for lighter oil.

My Favourite for length:
-------------
------P------
----O-O------
-------------
-----cg------
-------------
-----0-------
-----mb------
In other words Pin directly above ring finger
CG anywhere legal doesn't matter no weight hole if possible
MB straight down from pin or towards thumb

--------------------
Brunswick kicks buttocks
