whats the positives and negatives of getting a ball drilled with the pin in the finger?

It can be different from bowler to bowler. The ball I had drilled with the ring finger taken out the pin was a very smooth reacting ball. Nice controlled break point.

oh ok, cus i just drilled pin in ring finger on a hyroad, because the storm reccommended that layout and it just hits the pocket flatttttt.  would have left the 8-10 soo many times.

the ball just sailed majority of the time.

You pick the layout you want to use.  Then, if the pin is too close to a finger hole or would be partially drilled out, you modify it enough to completely drill the pin out so the ball will be less likely to crack in that area.  You don't just put the pin in a hole and assume you'll get a specific reaction.  --  JohnP

drilling pin out doesnt do anything special to the ball, the pin is just a marker, as has been said it depends on your pap, what is your pap....it could be in the very strong position drilled in ring making it flare out if used on dry conditions....
