drilling the pin out
« on: March 30, 2013, 03:54:41 AM »
I have had a RG and Storm ball with this type of drilling (both symetrical),and for a down/in stroker like myself am able to play inside and swing the ball from 30 to 8 if need be. The balls roll early and finish hard (Nomad & Crossroad) if I was to drill a DV8 Hellraiser then what could I expect?

The MB (preferred spin axis aka PSA) of the Hellraiser is an important part of the layout as well, so even with the pin in your finger hole (you didn't specify which one) you'll still have a reaction tweaking option...

Even on the symmetric core in the Nomad or Crossroad a balance hole can help pull the PSA away from the thumb hole if static weights allow...

The pin is in my ring finger and I do have a balance hole in the balls (just inside the val ).Wasn't sure if I drilled the pin out on a ays. ball if I would burn it up in the heads since I am a stroker.

When dealing with asymmetric equipment, "stroker" isn't enough detail to know whether said ball will burn up in the heads.

Ball speed off the hand, axis tilt, axis rotation, rev rate, intended lane type, and oil pattern all have to be taken into account.

Asymmetric equipment can be a real pain in the ass to layout properly...

Drilling the pin out is a minimal factor in the ball's overall reaction...it's pin to pap distance and where the weight hole is in regards to pap and size of bit & how deep.
Drilling into the mass bias in most cores will have a much larger effect of reaction.
