Is this normail (oil patterns)
« on: September 29, 2004, 12:58:36 AM »
I was having a chat with our lane tech man, and he says that the house has 38ft of heavy oil and the rest light, in a christmas tree effect...

Is that a long oil pattern or not?

To me that would be a standard length for a house shot, I guess it would be considered medium length oil. If it is really a "christmas tree" pattern it is one of the best patterns to bowl on as it allows all types of styles to play the lanes equally well. Our league(s) bowl on what I call a "slot" shot, the lanes are walled in the middle then the track hooks and then there is an out of bounds outside 7.
