What's NEXT to go in your bag?
« on: December 08, 2003, 07:31:17 PM »
I've never been a member of the ball-of-the-month club, but I've never had a 100% complete lineup.  For some reason, I feel there are gaps in my arsenal.

The ball I need...

A control ball.  Mild resin solid coverstock.  Center-heavy core with mild backend reaction.  I still have a Storm Tour Power at home, and that gave me a great read.

I haven't figured out how to get a Dyno-thane Vendetta Particle to give me that reaction yet, but I'm close.  Particle you say?  Yes, it's a low load particle coverstock with a great core.  It's not the hook monster that other particles try to be.

So what ball, if you could design the REACTION, would be your next to add to your bag?

I know their should be plenty of choices, but I still haven't been able to find the reaction I had from my blue Track Triton.  This ball seemed to clear even the driest heads easily and then roll hard in the mids and continue through the backends.  The best part about the setup I had with this ball is that it would get into that dead roll right at the head pin.  I know it was a visual trick on the eyes, but the ball actually looked like it just stopped hooking and rolled straight back through the pins.  If you've ever seen this, you know that you seemingly carry everything from high flush to swishing the rack.

I would like to try something with a very weak resin/urethane coverstock and strong core drilled for length.  Too many balls come out now that just hook more than the last one.  I want less hook.  League has been pretty dry and I have trouble clearing the heads without losing a lot of energy.

Hmmm.  If I could design a ball.  I think I would take something like the core from the Vendetta or the Hex/Crunch Time/TE and put it in the cover that is on the Thing Returns.  Just a little more length, a little more flare and durability.

Of what is out there...maybe I can mimic the reaction I'm looking for with a Blazing Inferno with a coverstock and drill tweak....  Either that or I could use a pure oiler.
