Dry THS layout that has been working (pics)
« on: March 06, 2010, 04:00:03 PM »
Every week it has been dry, and I tried a layout with a MB on my VAL.  I have found a great look, a strong midlane, with a very controlled backend.  I tried it on a Solid LevRg, which I had at 4000 with polish.  That ball wound up  giving a great look on the dry, but also on the surprise medium condition I found Tuesday.  She still worked great playing closer to the track area. ( I haven''t been able to play to track area in long time).  Reason being, I am average speed, higher rev player, so whenever I dabbled close to the track area, when I leaked it right, it was a severe overreaction.    But, the MB on the VAL does not overeact when she hits the bone dry.    Just figured I give hope to someone ready to throw in the towel with overreaction.  Maybe find a older asymmetrical piece to try on first.  I liked the plug/redrill  of my Solid LevRg so much, I just bought one NIB, and drilled myself:

It worked to be 40 x4 1/2 x 15, or 4 1/2 x 2 1/2 x 2 buffer.  My PAP is 4 1/2 over.

A half ten is not a great shot.  No, you shouldn''''t have carried it.

Glad to hear that you found a layout that you like for light amounts of oil! One of the keys to being versatile is finding layouts that work for certain conditions and switching to them with confidence knowing that they will work on that specific condition. Because one thing is certain, these people who think that one ball is all they need for any shot is asking to have his rear end handed to someone else on a silver platter some time down the road when someone with the right balls and layouts knows how to use each ball and how to adjust with that ball accordingly

So yeah, in fact I have a storm paradigm passion with basically the same layout with pin up above ring finger and mas bias over on the val a little further down than on your ball and it does role nice when there's oil in the middle but quite dryer on the outside. It doesn't flip like you were saying which is good, just rolly and smooth.

I used it on the Cheetah last night and it was high flaring.  The medium strength cover plus the layout is giving me a benchmark look.  I have one at 4000 plus polish, and now this one OOB.   I will fiddle with a stronger piece like a full swing or cell soon, and report back.
