I am returning to second shift leagues this winter. the THS is around 37', local house bowlers complained that the longer 39-40 ft pattern was too hard. These were the higher handicap bowlers.

So, when I used to bowl this late league, it can get really toasty - following a 5 man team league. but most nights, the heads were dry, mids still had some, and balls hook in the back. I don't follow the current line ups these days and I was wondering what balls should I look into?

Does a round object have sides? I say yes, pizza has triangles..

I know.... it is what it is around here. Still this house I bowl at isn't a gimme for many, so many bowlers left and when to another house where their average increases.  Only the loyal ones have stayed at this house....

unless you can loft the ball to the midlanes consistently, maybe look for lower end equipment that won't read the front parts as much.

I would try something like a storm tropical breeze or the storm natural pearl or 900 globals boost lineup. sounds like a pearlized weak cored ball is what is needed especially with the heads burnt up ive noticed it seems to be more and more common with people using strong solid equipment on ths patterns that the heads burn out pretty quickly so ive changed alot of my ths equipment towards weaker stuff and my scores have been much more consistent .

I wouldn't buy anything new until you learn exactly how dry it is. Unless you've already bowled on the same pattern, in the 2nd shift, in this house, you never really know how your current mildest balls will react. They might just need a slight surface adjustment to work fine.

You also don't know if the oil will be kicked outside and you can play a straighter shot (Blue Hammer or a Rebel Tank) or you will have to move deeper and use a ball that clears dryish heads and has a strongish backend (Graffiti Tag or a Ride).
