Gotta love posts like this! LoL!!  People either love Weber or hate him...  He's like Pete Rose, you hate him on the other team, love him when he's on yours.

That's like asking who would you rather have in your bed, when they were 25 years old, Marilyn Monroe or Sophia Loren?
Mary Ann or Ginger?
Jennifer Anniston or a Charlize Theron?

There is no decision to be made here, the only correct answer is all of them, harem style!

I USED TO HATE PETE WEBER.

I thought he was a brash, loud mouthed, arrogant, drug addicted, sophomoric idiot with delusions of grandeur because his DADDY was a famous and talented bowler.

BUT, as time passed and things evolved, I came to find out that he was indeed talented at what he does. Not only that, but he also became the unexpected underdog. I no longer saw the brash, bold, haughty/mighty PETE WEBER, I began to see a normal human with normal failings. I began to see him have nerves, and I began to see him have doubts and fears that he might not be an automatic "Heir to the Throne", and I began to see him wonder if he would indeed be able to fill those bowling shoes his father left behind.

Is Pete the best of all time? No, I do not believe he is, but I will say this: Whomever IS the best of all time had better shoe up and bring their "A" game if they plan on beating him, because he is going to bring everything he knows, and everything he is physically capable of doing with a bowling ball, with him when he comes, and he will do everything in his power to beat their a**, and he might just succeed.

With everything else he has overcome in his life, winning a bowling match probably doesn't seem that hard.

Oh yeah, almost forgot, I'm a Ginger, Marilyn, Charlize, Scarlett guy.

This.  Cause I swear none of them would get kicked out of my bed...

Met Pete Weber at a Regional event In Indianapolis many years ago after his suspension. He could not have been more accommodating or friendly. If I remember right when the PBA got bought out they thought they needed a villain for people to root against and Pete said he would do it. I think many of you have forgotten that fact. On the other issue Charlize Theron!!!

You remember correctly.  It was documented in the movie "A League of Ordinary Gentlemen".  Weber was the "heel",  WRW was the "face" but he didn't warm up to the role as he thought the bowling should speak for itself.
Long Gone also posts the honest truth which is why i respect him. He posts these things knowing some may not like it.

I have crossed with both in tournaments.  Duke is more versatile, but Pete is almost unbeatable when he gets his shot.  Petes extremely high axis rotation ( at least 60 degrees ) limits his ability to match up on some conditions.

Pete was the best at the "crotch chop" and that is all! The best bowler of all time was Earl Anthony. Walter Ray Williams would be a close second. Unlike PDW both were true gentlemen who respected the game and were an asset to the sport.  Bowling would be better off if Weber took up knitting.

You guys are delusional. Weber is the consonant competitor. Not looking for a role model or a hero. Just interested in skills and the way they play the game.

Given a choice, I bet Weber would be in the top 5 pros that fans would prefer to see bowl, maybe the top two. How you reasonably conclude that the game of bowling would be better off without Pete Weber is incomprehensible. I only hope that someone with as much charisma and their own personality is there to take his place when he hangs up his bowling shoes.

I think they're both extremely great bowlers. No competitor lasts this long in their sport if they aren't. Personally, I would love to see them go head to head. PDW might get Duke fired up and intense. When Duke won the US Open, he was showing the most emotion and intensity I've ever seen him show. It seems like these two have tons of respect for each other and I think they could have a head-to-head match for the ages.

In my limited interactions with PDW, he was always a very nice person to be around. I know others have had different experiences, so I guess that is what it is. Still, whether you love him or hate him, if you can't tell that he's one of if not THE best bowler the game has ever seen, you don't really know bowling. The man probably has the best physical game the sport has ever seen. Don't let your opinion of the man distort your view of THE BOWLER.

For my money, best bowler of all time. Not to mention, best release of all time. He makes it look so easy, and people that make things look easy, regardless of the sport, get my vote. No one gets it off their hand better than him.

PDW vs Duke.....

I agree with so much that has been said so far....

Duke gets the nod for versatility....he can pipe it up the twig or circle the ball from the 6th arrow....just watch some of the old matches when he was the Champions products. He was hooking the lane with the reactive Ultimate Weapon when everyone else was hooking the ball 8-10 boards.

PDW gets my vote if you want an exciting match to watch...by far he's one of the most charismatic bowlers of the ages

One thing that a lot of people forget is that PDW dominated much of the pre-resin era but due to his release style, the introduction of reactive balls caused him to suffer and struggle for several years. Remember his success with the AMF Bobcat???

Too close to call....
