That's like asking who would you rather have in your bed, when they were 25 years old, Marilyn Monroe or Sophia Loren?
Mary Ann or Ginger?
Jennifer Anniston or a Charlize Theron?

On perhaps an interesting note... I don't think they have met in head to head competition on TV since Duke signed with Storm...

Pete Weber is the best bowler that ever lived.  Duke is the best shot maker, Walter won the most titles, and Earl was the greatest of an era.

But hands down, best technique, instinct, drive to win, and timeless game....PDW.

All of you that are voting for Duke are forgetting Pete's dominance of the urethane era. Much like Walter Ray, Duke was a good pro who's career took off with the advent of reactive resin. After an adjustment period, Pete went on to great success with reactive equipment as well.
Not to take anything away from Duke, but Weber is probably the most talented bowler ever, and if not for some personal demons would likely have far surpassed WRW in titles.

Ooooooeeee! I was with you all the way up to the last comparison. Charlize wins that one, hands down to me.  ;)  :P

Kind of like a "Barry Sanders or Emmitt Smith" question huh?

On TV today, my money would be on Duke, unless we're talking the US Open, in which case it's a coin flip.  Pete hasn't made enough shows the last two years to convince me he's gotten over the nervous streak that held him back for about 4 years.

Now this is interesting. If the goal is to increase interest in bowling, why not do a series of matches pitting the best in the game against each other, one on one. Duke against Weber. Williams against Barnes. Rash against Belemonte, etc.

These would be fun to watch.

Yeah! I remember the few times in the past when a Williams vs. Weber match would happen. It seemed to have a little more excitement considering both bowlers are the best in the sport.

Pete was the best at the "crotch chop" and that is all! The best bowler of all time was Earl Anthony. Walter Ray Williams would be a close second. Unlike PDW both were true gentlemen who respected the game and were an asset to the sport.  Bowling would be better off if Weber took up knitting.

PDW has the purest game out there, even at his age.  Yes Earl was great, but to say this sport would be better off without PDW is ridiculous.  If not for his personal demons (way before the crotch chop by the way) he would most likely have the most titles all time.

Not taking anything away from Duke or WRWJ, as they are great also, but in my mind PDW is the most complete bowler of his era.

It kills me to say this but I disagree. Pete Weber ranks up there with the greatest bowlers of all time. He just doesn't rank there with the greatest of human beings, as I saw his behavior on TV.

It's a shame that his competitiveness never stayed only on the lanes, as it had for most of the great bowlers, including his father. If you bowled Dick Weber or Don Carter or Earl Anthony, you almost hated them. Off the approach, you might think any one of them was your best friend.

On the approach, Pete is possibly one of the five greatest to ever touch a ball. Off the approach. is a completely different story.

Met Pete Weber at a Regional event In Indianapolis many years ago after his suspension. He could not have been more accommodating or friendly. If I remember right when the PBA got bought out they thought they needed a villain for people to root against and Pete said he would do it. I think many of you have forgotten that fact. On the other issue Charlize Theron!!!
