I agree with CHawk, the condition of the lane surface itself plays a large part in how the patterns play. How well the lane is stripped is also a huge factor in my experience.
Maintaining the ratios is still the main objective of a sport pattern, but the rules due allow variance in total volume. At 22' there is a minimum requirement of 10 units of oil on the outsides (boards 3-7). There is also a maximum limit of 80 units of oil on the inside boards (L18-R18) also measured at 22'.
So yes, you may see different variations of a pattern from one center to the next based on what volume is chosen.
