Dutch 200
« on: February 27, 2004, 04:44:40 PM »
Last night I just shot my first Dutch 200.

It was a true Dutch 200 I started with a spare and finished the tenth with a strike and a 10 pin spare conversion for the finish.  Hardest thing was the line was dificult.  OB outside of 13 board.  If you got outside 13 washout city.  Too tight ping a ten or a 5-7.  Actual line was 15 at the breakpoint.  Never really had to play this tight a line before so it was a challenge.  I had the right lane down and in the tenth I needed a strike and spare to finish it up.  Felt a little nervous.  In my approach I knew I had it nailed on the first ball for the strike.  Second ball I was thinking how am gonna leave a spare.  I killed the revs and pinged a 10.  Picked up the 10 and got my Dutch.

Since I didn't try to punch out.  Is this considered sandbagging?

How many of you have shot a Dutch before?

I shot a dutch a few years back when I was in YABA.  I need the strike in the first ball of the tenth as well.  I got it and moved my feet two left and made the spare for the dutch.  I is nothing more than a patch.

I don't think it is considered bagging if you shoot a deuce, regardless of how it is achieved a deuce is a deuce.

I bowled mine in the opposite manner---started with a strike and went from there. Realizing that you have a chance at a Dutch deuce and doing it is not sandbagging IMHO. Congrats on your achievement!!!!!!

Since you asked, that is technically sandbagging.  You purposely tried not to strike.  If you took advantage of the opportunity every 11th frame, you'd be giving away up to 11 pins.  You may have pinged a 10 trying for a strike, but that's not the point.

I suppose technically it is sandbagging, but I don't think I'd complain if my opponent did it.  After all he'd be giving me a better chance to win.  And, as agroves said a deuce is a deuce so it's probably no big deal.  I've never had a dutch 200, but personally if I came to the 10th frame with the chance for a dutch 200 I'd probably try to strike out and go for the 210 or 220 since I'd most likely need the extra pins for a 600 series.

I have never had a Dutch 200. My biggest accomplishment has
been a Polish 150.

Thankfully I've never shot the clean 90 or the Polish 150, but have come close to the Dutch 200.  I think I'v gotten to about the 7th on the Dutch.  I don't mind missing with a double, but hate to miss with an open.

Congrats Doc, and no it isn't sandbagging.

Yes its sandbagging.  Refer to Chap 8, sec 2 Nicanors Guide to Successful Sandbagging.  Or, How To Average 189 Without Trying.

Good shooting Doc, also looks like a couple of CPLs at the same time.

Strike, open, strike, open...

Ya, it really happened. We have a few lanemen that have no clue. They don't
check the machine before they run the lanes. No stripper, no oil, strong stripper sometimes, missing wicks, they have only been shown how to plug the machine in and start it down the lane.

Sorry for the hijack!
