Some of you might remember my Chameleon PBA experience week 1. The next 2 weeks were sub par. 2nd week I couldn't hit my marks, if I did that then my speed was too fast or slow, if my speed was right I missed my marks. Shot 506 or something like that. I was able to pull it together the last game to shoot a 212 game. 3rd week my speed and targeting were better but I was bowling with 7 other guys who were playing the same line and tore the shot apart by the end of game 1, shot just shot of average for the night. Current average after 3 weeks is 170.

My experience last night on the Cheetah (my least favorite).

Started out practice playing around 5 board. I was getting inconsistant results. The last 2 shots in practice were quality shots with strike results. I was playing 8-2 most of the night. Used a control drilled BVP Rampage.

Game 1 was a spare shooting nightmare! I had 1 spare, and a 3 bagger between frames 4-7, rest were open frames. I was chopping spares, or just completely missing them to the left. I would over adjust and start missing them to the right. Speed was an issue as well, too fast and the ball would just skid, too slow and checked up.

Game 2 was awesome! I moved my entire line farther outside, I was playing 6-1.5. No one was playing the lanes were I was at. I had a lot of people look at me like I was nuts for playing so close to the channel with most of them saying "Man you should NEVER have to play that far outside on any condition!" My response was, "This is the PBA pattern, you have to play were the friction is, if you don't you won't have any real chance to score." Their reaction to that was yeah right. lol. I made little adjustments throughout game 2 but since I was the only one that far outside my adjustments were mainly ball speed.

Game 3 was pretty good in my books. I didn't make any drastic changes from game 2 to 3, I did have to make a small adjustment. I moved 1 board left, saw that was the wrong move so next shot I moved 2 boards right and found the sweet spot again, struck the last 6 frames to end the night.

Now for the scores:
Game 1: 150
Game 2: 290
Game 3: 233
Series: 673

The unfortunate thing about this leauge is, it is NOT sanctioned. Figures I shoot my 1st leauge setting honor score in a non sanctioned leauge. I don't really care to be honest, just be a peice of hardware that would sit somewhere and collect dust or get lost under a pile of crap. Just the feeling of achieving it is cool and plus I know I can do it. I think the weird part of all this is, this is my 3rd year bowling on Sport/PBA patterns and I shoot an honor score where I've been bowling on the THS the last 21 years and my best game there is 286....

I'd take 673 on any PBA pattern. Nice bowling, Mike.

Nice bowling Mike, congrats!

This year's version of the Cheetah had more hook at our house, so I did a bit better than last year, but no where near what you shot.

You've got some great experience now playing this pattern.......good for you. This is the only PBA pattern that has any real dry area to the outside. Use it to your advantage. I like to play straight down the 3 board with an end over end roll. This way i can "miss" all the way to the 1 board. And there may be some hold if the ball is pulled slightly.

Nice shooting. That pattern can be damned tough, and playing 6-to-1.5 is like walking a tightrope.

Thanks. I noticed there was about 4 boards of mistake room on the line I was playing. I absolutely love playing the outside lines like what the Viper and Cheetah make you play. My style of bowling is based off a power cranker but over the years I've learned how to play much straighter. Nobody else had the balls to play the line so far outside like I did, everyone was cringing when they watched me bowl. Now, next week my goal is to play the same area and to make more spares. It would be awesome if I can back up last weeks 673 with another 615+.

I'm already at a record breaking 2 600+ sets for summer PBAx leauge for myself. All I can do is try the best I can.
