Fair or unfair
« on: January 13, 2013, 02:50:21 AM »
Well here is a nice topic to think on, I'm sure this has floatin around but, do you think guys on staff have a unfair advantage in league tournament play? I'm talking pro shop/amateur and any other type staffer that has access to equipment? Most tournaments I attend usually a staffer comes out on top and every now and then your non-staffers win. Likewise on the regional tour it's generally someone on staff winning. What are your thoughts?

They are winning because they are skilled bowlers who companies want representing them.  Companies won't keep around staff members that aren't "cream of the crop" for long.

I agree. Staffers have a fair advantage because usually they are among the more skilled bowlers.

Do you think companies give contracts to anyone?  You need to have credentials to even be considered for being on staff.  Usually they end up using the equipment exclusively before trying to get on staff too so they can use that as well as part of their resume.

Just to clear the air I'm no scrub on the lanes, I am a staffer, and I have won plenty as a non staffer, I'm just asking a general question.

Staffers definitely have an unfair advantage...... and thats a good thing. They wouldnt be on staff other wise. As a staffer member, you're getting the benefit of having the newest equipment with no real guesswork as to how to drill it, what the balls do, and how they fit with your other equipment. Your objective as a staffer is to sell equipment. With that said, as mentioned before, you have to make everything they come out with look good, so there is always someone you can talk with and go to.

Staff members get their contracts by being better and standing out from the rest of the crowd. Even if they were not on staff they would still be at around the top.
