PBA staff changes
« on: December 13, 2011, 08:01:19 AM »
It looks like this season saw a few staff changes and additions.  Here is what I've seen so far.

Andres Gomez: Storm (no surprise but now is a full staff member)

Brad Angelo: Storm (if you look at his bio on pba.com, he is now wearing the Storm logo)

Scott Norton: Motiv (motivbowling.com features him on the front page)

Wayne Garber: Track (was throwing Columbia 300 previously but may throw all 4 EBI brands)

WRWJ: Brunswick (the biggest signing of the summer)

Tom Hess: Storm (again, no surprise but now a full staff member)

Dan MacLelland: Columbia 300 (his first staff deal)

Ronnie Russell: DV8 (moves to that from Brunswick)

Brian Valenta: DV8 (his first staff deal)

Mike Machuga: DV8 (was previously throwing Brunswick, Storm and Hammer)

Now, if you go to the Danny Wiseman Bowling Fan Page on Facebook, it looks as if Danny is throwing a lot of Roto Grip and Motiv right now.  If he makes a show this season, it would be interesting to see what gets thrown and when.

I forgot about him.  That's pretty bad since I live in that area and my driller also does a lot of his stuff.

One thing that stormbowling.com did this year which is interesting is with their bio pages.  Now they list their bowlers' favorite layouts, the "my locker" feature which shows preferred balls, and "player products" which shows jerseys and accessories they use.  Pretty cool to say the least.

That is a surprise. Leanne has been throwing Ebonite for as long as I remember seeing her on TV!!

I don't remember seeing her ever throw anything except Ebonite.  It seems like a lot of the women staffers jumped ship and went to Storm/RG.  The only exception I can think of was last year when Liz Johnson left Storm to join EBI.

It's all about the money. Plain and Simple.

Who will do more for me, and who will give me more.

Why is everybody surprised?

As a matter of fact, why is ANYBODY surprised?

Becas\use when someone is as loyal to one company for 20 years or so, it seems like it would take more than money to get them to change ships. Maybe Storm has a lot more money to throw away?
(Can't see as how this many staffers will help Storm sell more balls.)
Maybe EBonite is not doing as well as they were?

I think Leanne was probably one of the longest tenured staffers at EBI except for Jason Couch, who has been there his entire career.  Even more interesting is that she was throwing the Game Changer when she won the US Open this past year.

Part of it was probably money.  The other part- who knows.  20+ years is a long time.  Maybe she thought other options would be better.

This is probably as major of a signing as the Brunswick signing of WRWJ this past summer.  It gives Storm another top women's staffer to go with Asbaty, Tish Johnson, and their entire lineup.
