Early Season Stats
« on: September 27, 2008, 01:30:50 AM »
Tuesday, game by game I've averaging 213-194-209.  So I'm not reading the transition.  Thursday at a different house I'm 215-225-197.  So I can't adjust as the lanes dry.  My spare making is atrocious at the moment.  What am I good at again?

My spares are what is killing me the most right now.  I made roughly 48% of my spares for the month.

I also seem to lose my concentration and intensity throughout the night.  At least that can be fixed easily.

I've been struggling with getting splits at the worse moment and the 10-pin so far only picking it up less then 50% of the time so I'm going to start using a house ball to pick them up next week.  Plus I'm getting a slow start on the first game but do extremely well in the 2nd and 3rd. On the positive side I already shot my first 700 series for the season and my consistency has improved alot from the PBAX league I did over the summer.

Spares are mostly my problem too.  I need to make about 90% or more of the makeable ones and I'd be doing pretty good.  I throw enough strikes to make a good game but the lack of spare making ruins it.  I feel it's because I don't have a very solid foundation to build my spare game around.  In other words, my physical game is a bit inconsistent(in feel at least) which is causing the opens.  I have a solid system except for sometimes my spare ball do hook away whereas if it'd gone completely straight I would have made the spare(I try to throw as straight as possible but it's usually around 15 degrees of rotation).

Didn't mean to hijack the thread but I saw lack of spares being mentioned and had to jump in.

Spare shooting is over rated on house shots, if your worried about making spares then you've missed the point. House shots are normally so walled up that it doesnt matter if u can make spares when u strike 10 times a game. I dunno i cant complain because i'm a very good spare shooter but i've been focusing more this year on making sure I can read the midlane more to be ahead of the transition. So far in the early season i'm avg 249 in on league, 232 in travel league... its not about makeins spares on this stuff... strike at will...

Monday night in the wood house game by game I'm averaging 209-207-230. Can you tell I like when the lanes settle down a little bit? I'm seeing too much friction from the start, once the heads and backends settle in I'm fine.

Thursday night in the synthetic house game by game I'm averaging 224-215-219. Splits are killing me during the transition in game two. I feel like I have a good look most of the night in this house, it just becomes a carry contest on certain pairs.

You gotta love what happens from night to night in different houses, makes you work better at reading lanes, transitions and how to attack patterns certain ways with the right matchups.

196 - 232 - 243 are my game by game avgs.

Of couse we are only 3 weeks in...

I have 4 games under 225 and 3 of them are in the 1st game.  Slow starter indeed (or maybe I just need to start drinking earlier?).  Lots of splits on bad shots for me, and only so/so spare shooting (75% on non-splits thus far and 67% overall)
