When I have had backers for tournaments or brackets the split was exactly as described. He got his investment back, then 50-50. Along these lines though. A couple years ago I was bowling a big tournament in Oklahoma and putting up my own money only got in a couple brackets. After the first round and rolling a 279, my teammates approached me about how many brackets I was in. After saying a couple they proceeded to explain I was in every bracket. Well I approached the guy running brackets and he said an old guy that hangs out had put me in the rest. He never asked if I minded, which with an agreed upon split I wouldn't, and when he won money never offered to kick back anything my way. Well, our team has never bowled that event since. Just didn't seem right to me and I had wiped out my whole team by the second game, which was in the 240's. Off subject a bit, but if you ever find yourself wanting to put someone in brackets, ask first. It is only fair.
