Is it OK to say "I hope you miss it"?
« on: February 01, 2005, 02:00:17 PM »
Alright here is the deal.

We are bowling the league A holes and win the 1st 2 games. Last game is tight and I'm really close to 1st 700 at this house since the new lanes.

I leave a 6 pin in the 9th and am getting ready to shoot it. The league president (on the opposing team) yells out "I hope he misses it"! WTF. The guys were jerks all night but is that like totally bogus? We got into it after. I guess I was brought up different. I would never say that.

I enjoy little friendly trash talk but is that really necessary. I'd love to see someone pull that crap on a putt in a golf tournament!!!

This is not sour grapes, I made the spare and shot 717. We lost game but I could care less. It was the bad sportsmanship that bothers me.

Troublesome to see adults act like that I guess. Wondering what you guys think?

That's BS, come on the league president should be an example to follow, I understand there is always some sort of mind games or a little trash talking, I really enjoy that it adds some "flavor" to the game.
But come on it sucks to say that kind of stuff, when any player is getting ready to shoot it shut up time, at least thats my take on it, there can be trash-talking but there is a slight line between that and losing respect.
Its a shame the league president could be such an a**hole.

That's a poor example to set as league president.

Me and my friend's will rib each other when it comes to shots, but that's between us. I would never ever yell that at someone on an opposing team. It shows a lack of character.

If he's the league president, and you don't think he's doing his job checking on the sec/treasurer/check book, you might ask him for the results of his monthly audits of the checking acct...

I think you answered your own question.  I guess it's OK if you don't mind being an A hole.
